Gunners vs. Denton 31
March 2007 TRU DIV III Quarterfinals
________________________________________________________
Arlington 24 Gunners 12
We
physically dominated the 1st half going up
12-0 with strong forward play picking the ball and winning all scrums.
Marcus put a long 40 meter run in for a try and Toni Eckman put a second
one in after a great run by Posey and Deon. Noa was 1 of 2 on
conversions, had great kick offs, and solid defense and runs. The
second half we didn't match the intensity, started
playing high, losing possession of the ball in contact & open play.
Arlington made multiple substitutions and we couldn't because we didn't
have the numbers. Our back play needs improvement and focus on
attacking/committing the defender. We're drifting too much cutting the
field in half, making bad passes that result in turn-overs, and running
out of bounds entirely too much. All need to improve on tackling and
taking players down to prevent teams from forming mauls. Marcus was the
man of the match. Thanks to
Julious and Woody for making a solid tight 5. Arlington 24, Sill 12.

DARC hammers Gunners
29-0
Five folks who committed
to make the trip decided not to make the trip. 15 players on the
mark showed up to play a game of rugby and put it on the line.
Brand new locks and missing 3 All-Army players. DARC dominated
scrum play, line outs and open play. Get to practice and if you
know you can make the Arlington match let Brant know. We are truly
a team based on who shows up to game day.

Gunners beat Denton
24-10
A tough match for 50
minutes tied at 10 to 10. CJ came in at half time and pushed the
ball to the backs resulting in a score by Kurt to break it open.
Posey somehow managed to run 60 meters for a try to put the game away.

Gunners lose to Fort
Worth 13 Oct
A rough first match
against a tough Fort Worth team. Strong forward play by Fort Worth
kept the Gunners going backwards and on defense most of the match.
An experienced Fort Worth back line took advantages of overloads and the boot to put
pressure on our backs. Marcus made it to the match at half time after
a drive with Ben via Dallas to Fort Worth. He made an instant
impact on a quick line out followed by a strong punch that led to a 60
meter run for our only score. Gunner's have a lot of work to do on
game fundamentals and rucking. We have a lot of new players, so
don't get discouraged. Keep coming to practice and keep improving.
Get ready for a Denton side who is consistently a strong team in TRU DIV
III.

Gunners defeat MSU
A good friendly against MSU.
Gunners got a lot of new players on the field for their first rugby
match, but a lot of work to do on game fundamentals.
